Victory is Found in the Face of Jesus
Written by Clare Berry

This world can throw all sorts of problems at us. It can also provide some of the answers, in part. In the world we can become sick, but the world’s medicines can give us some relief. In the world we can experience conflict, in families, at work, in our neighbourhood. And the world offers us advice on how to live with that conflict. In the world we have stress, but the world offers us stress management techniques.
On the whole, the world offers temporary solutions or cover-ups. But there is a real answer to ALL of our problems, and He is Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:4-5(NKJV)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
By becoming a child of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, we are promised victory in all things that the world brings upon us.

I went on a barefoot walk at Trentham Gardens yesterday. It promised me a treat for my feet. Some surfaces were silky smooth, some were cool and spongey. However, some of the stony ground was quite painful to walk along. I gave up on a couple of sections due to the discomfort. But on the third section of stones I wanted to succeed. I did not want to be defeated. I decided to remember that I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realm. I chose to gaze into His face and enjoy His company. I took my eyes off the stones and fixed them firmly on the beautiful face of Jesus, and immediately, the pain reduced to a mild unevenness under foot. I walked easily through the section at normal walking speed.
This is a picture of how we are to overcome all the problems we face. There is an old chorus by Helen Howarth Lemmel we used to sing:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
When our troubles do not weigh us down or cause us fear, we have the courage to go on. Nothing gets in the way of God’s plans and purposes for our lives. And when our eyes are on Jesus, He is able to restore, renew and reconcile all that has been damaged along the way – bodies, relationships, emotions.
The Bible tells us of a time when a disciple of Jesus, Peter, walked on stormy waters. While He kept his eyes on Jesus he was able to walk above the storm. But when he looked at the storm, he began to sink.
The power to overcome is in the face of Jesus Christ.
John 16:33 (NKJV)
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
If you do not Know Jesus and you want to experience this victorious life, then receive Jesus into your heart now.
Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who came to earth to die on the cross so that all my sins are forgiven. I believe you have made a way for me to come boldly before the creator of the universe, and to call Him Father. I thank you for your exceedingly great love for me. Because You gave up Your life for me, I willingly hand over my life to You now. Holy Spirit, come and live inside of me today. Amen.
