A snowy arrival
Welcome to High Winds! We have been here for 9 months now. We arrived in the snow three days before Christmas. Yes, I know, crazy time of year to move! Well, I suppose the house is full of boxes at that time of year any way so a house load more will fit right in. Well actually, we had three houses worth of boxes. It was the biggest house move I’ve ever done. We moved three homes and nine people into one home.
It’s a big house! My children can run up and down in the kitchen! It is so different from having to walk sideways around furniture and climb over each other when we used to have visitors.

An early start
We had an early start on the day of the move as you can see from our bleary-eyed faces in the picture. My kids had fun playing with their cousins while Martin and I cleaned the house. The removal van arrived at our new house hours before we did. Never underestimate how long it takes to travel when you have children. Thankfully the rest of the family had moved into the house a week before us so they started unpacking for us. Bless them, they had only just got the house looking like a house again after they all moved in and then we turn up. There were boxes everywhere you could hardly move and two lively, noisy children to add into the mix! Plus we had visitors.
Oh yes – our first day at the new house and we already had our first visitors. My grandma and uncle were staying the night! So eleven of us made our way down to the little local pub for dinner that night!

Our big family
So High Winds is a lively place. There is always something going on. There are always people coming and going and at is heart is family.
